Early Years at SVIS

Silicon Valley International School’s Early Years program follows the British EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework for children aged 3 to 5. It is where curiosity begins — a warm, play-based start that builds confident, capable learners ready for primary school, welcoming families across the New Capital, New Cairo, Madinaty and El Shorouk.

How young children learn at SVIS. EYFS nurtures the whole child across communication and language, physical development, personal and social development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. Through guided play, exploration and discovery, children develop a genuine love of learning from their very first days.

A safe, stimulating environment. Our Early Years classrooms are bright, secure and climate-controlled, with dedicated play areas and caring, qualified teachers. Small steps, big encouragement, and a strong partnership with parents help every child feel happy, settled and ready to grow.

Early skills for a smart future. Even in the Early Years, SVIS introduces age-appropriate technology, storytelling in the knowledge hub, and the soft skills — communication, curiosity and collaboration — that set children up for success as they move into primary school.

A smooth transition to primary. Our Early Years team works closely with primary teachers so that every child moves up with confidence, familiarity and a strong foundation in place.

Pre school overview

Our preschool setting offers a warm, inclusive, and engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. Through daily routines, creative play, and hands-on exploration, young learners begin to build essential early skills such as focus, memory, and self-regulation.
We encourage independence and confidence, helping children to develop communication skillsemotional awarenesssocial relationships, and both fine and gross motor abilities — laying the foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

In Early year Stage 1 (EY1), learning is centred around the three Prime Areas of the EYFS:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication and Language

Physical Development

Our daily routines and interactive activities nurture early communication, listening, and movement skills, which are key to success in later school years.

Children begin Phase 1 Phonics, learning to listen carefully, recognise and differentiate sounds — an essential first step toward reading and writing.
We also introduce early mark-making to spark an interest in writing, and daily mathematical routines to strengthen number sense and problem-solving skills.
Throughout, we prioritise emotional growth, helping children make friends, manage feelings, and learn cooperatively through play.

In Early year Stage 2 (EY2), children continue their journey toward achieving the Early Learning Goals in all seven areas of the EYFS. The focus expands to include greater confidence in language, reading, writing, and mathematics, while building curiosity about the world around them.

Children participate in daily Phonics sessions, beginning to read and write with enthusiasm and understanding. Learning is enriched through child-led topics and real-life experiences, inspiring critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
Our curriculum remains broad, balanced, and imaginative, ensuring every child feels empowered, capable, and eager to learn.
